Into the Song Worm Wormhole

Holy shit, you guys! Why the hell has the author been listening to this song all afternoon while she scrawls away in her notebook on an LAC 14 chapter? Wholly holy shit! Go listen! Seriously, go listen! What the hell is she up to? Or, what the hell are some of us up to?

And, I trust that none of you are womanizers and will only listen to the music, not look at the pictures.

Me? No, I did not look. Not really. Just long enough to know you shouldn’t look.

Gee, I suddenly have a hankering for a martini. … Maybe I’ll drink it out on the porch. Maybe there’s a crescent moon out tonight.

Jesus, is it hot in here or what? My face is flushed. Or maybe pastie—oops, I mean pasty. Jesus!

Song Worms

The author tends to get a song stuck in her head for each book she writes. This one wormed its way into her head for Sutures. Okay, it kind of wormed its way into our heads, too, but I think I’d like it better with the title “DWD Tree.” Although, a DWD Tree is a Family Tree, huh?

And we need to know this why, Kate?

Because the one for LAC 14 is very telltale, very mood-setting.

And the LAC 14 song is, Kate?

Jesus, did Laura teach you interrogation techniques or something? I will tell you the song when Chapter 1 is fit to be swiped and posted … sometime next year. 😉 Just quit your complaining and enjoy Sutures and the song until then.

Heads Up!

We interrupt your regularly scheduled blog post for this author-gone-berserk news alert…

The author was promised a prize and some time off if/when she won NaNoWriMo. As you know, she did. (And, yes, she did indeed galumph.)

What prize did she pick? We’re embarrassed to say. Okay, maybe not. She bought a remote control Flying F-Word. We kid you not. See for yourself.

Too much time on her hands? Oh yeah, we think so. And why the hell would she use our books as a landing pad?

Needless to say, we think she needs to get back to work.

It Was Nothing

Check out the progress bar over there! She got the goal with two days to spare.

Laura’s in cop mode in here. “Roz, just back away from the tequila bottle.” I know, that sounds worse than it is. Laura has a tendency to overreact sometimes. (Think demented teapot song.) I think Roz was just after the bottle for something to drool into. She looks a little ragged and forgets to swallow.

But still, we made it, all in one piece. I would just like to mention (ahem) that it was Laura and I who got her to the goal today. We went totally off her blessed storyboard and took her for a ride. It was truly a barrel of laughs.

We’ll keep wiping the spittle off her chin, and when her color returns, we’ll get her moving on putting Sutures in order.

The Long and the Short of It

Twenty-five days under the belt.

Five days left for 6,458 more words.

She thought that after having gotten this far, she’d be all ready to galumph to the finish line. I figure it’s more like the tortoise and the hare thing, though. A tortare or a hartoise for all you portmanteau fans and/or haters, and, um, mixing Aesop and Carroll would render Aerroll or Carrsop. 😆

Anyway, what the hell was I saying? … Oh yeah! She’s got the cockiness of a hare, but trust me, she’s moving like a tortoise. I’d say it’s time to drop kick the tortoise, but the vegan would probably kill me and feed me to all the turkeys she saved from having dressing shoved up their behinds yesterday.

Can you tell I’m tired? Overworked? Underpaid? Jesus, can we please just stop this? 😥

Single Digits and a High-Five

This is day 22 of 30, and she hits 39,000 words. Eight more days to go to get 11,000 more words. She’s losing steam, and we’re frickin’ tired.

But hey, we’re almost to Chapter 5 in LAC 14, which still doesn’t have a title. I’m thinking: Lie Down, Lay Back, Let’s Drink, Lemme Go, Lemme NaNoWriNoMo.

Stretching for Home

Well, she passed 30,000 words today. She has 19,287 to go. With a good pair of binoculars, we may be able to see the finish line … and a gurney … and a straight jacket … and … and … what’s that? … oh, that damn bottle of tequila.

She is almost finished with Chapter 2 of the as-yet-unnamed LAC 14. Yes, I, too, think it needs a title. With it being an even number, it warrants an l-word+1 title. Someone suggested Lemon Peppers, which I thought was kind of cool … at least until he said he happened upon a picture of lemon pepper tofu. I don’t even want to know what the hell that looks like.

Anyway, I wish I could swipe the chapters and post them for you, but when the author says ‘rough,’ she is not talking about dogs. I do believe she’d kill me, which would make her have to begin another Laura book just to solve my murder, and we sure as hell can’t have that.

And, no, Sutures is still not complete. She’s thinking that having two files for it and not being able to edit either make her unable to see the whole. Apparently, you cannot end what you cannot see. We know how it ended and are happy to be in the next one. Whose weekend is it?

The Halfway Mark

Drum roll please….

We have reached the month’s mid-point! Her word count is still ahead!

She decided to add an epilogue to Sutures and then got tripped up on a few paragraphs. In fear of failing behind, she kept going and moved on to LAC 14. Good news for us. No tequila for her. That is as it should be, in my mind anyway.

Oh, and a thank-you to the smartass who sent a picture of herself eating a circus peanut just to prove a point. 🙄

And on the Twelfth Day…

She has moved into Sutures’ final chapter, people.

“Get a move on! The [book] is about to climax!”

And, Jesus, somebody hide the tequila bottle. If she finishes the book with the traditional margarita, that NaNoWriMo will turn into a PiNkElePhant.

And on the Eleventh Day…

She tops 20,000! Still about a day ahead of schedule.

She’s figuring there’s about a chapter and a half left on Sutures. She’ll have a very rough draft, which she’ll have to combine with what she had last month. With the NaNo clock still a’tickin’, though, she’ll launch into the nameless book 14. Sutures will start getting its edit on December 1st. Okay, maybe we’ll let her have a day off. 😉
