LAC Weekend Update

Well, we just finished breakfast at Maggie and Susan’s. Now, everyone looks kind of grotesque, and that has nothing to do breakfast.

As you can see from the NaNoWriMo counter over yonder, the author is plugging away. She’s ahead of schedule, even taking into account that she has a standing commitment on Tuesdays that leaves her with none of the brain cells required to write.

Her motivation is flagging, though, I must say. The powers-that-be say that’s normal, but it makes the author as distracted as a toddler. Maybe we could have her write with alphabet blocks or something. We’re doing our best to keep her moving. In fact, we’ve been behaving like little angels. Okay, except for the stuff pertaining to the actual weekend. I mean as the major players in this book writing business, we have remained on task, haven’t taken her on any tangents, haven’t been playing head games with her. Yep, well behaved.

So please send some good thoughts in our direction. She can be very hard to live with. Oh, and if you have any extra Halloween candy lying around…

Hold On Tight

She’s writing! She’s writing at the speed of, well, a snail. A very speedy snail, though. A snail on roller skates. Make that a skateboard since I don’t think snails have feet. Just a gross snotty sucky thing. Jesus, who veered the conversation to this?

Anyway, yes, she’s writing here on the first day of NaNoWriMo. Most importantly, she’s writing about us! Claudia and I just arrived at Maggie and Susan’s. The smartass cop and Holly arrived mere moments before us. Let the games begin! … Fine, we’ll wait for the others.

Watch that Roz-O-Meter over yonder. It’s going to move by day’s end. This is going to be a looooog month.

ISO: Ourselves and You

Holy shit, we have been silenced far too long! Sometimes when life rains, it’s a frickin’ shit-storm. But, the author has weathered it (mostly) and fondly remembers us. Time, once again, for us to move on with our life.

She’s got some people in here that have nothing to do with us. She’s been hanging with them over the past weeks, trying to beef up those atrophied literary muscles. She plans to have them taken care of soon. Because you know what? NaNoWriMo starts on November 1st, and she’s all in again. She has a rough outline of LAC 18, which is kind of stupid in my estimation. We live the damn thing, we know what happens, and we’re more than eager to tell her—as we always have.

LAC 18 is a Maggie and Susan weekend. It’s November, which is good since she’ll be writing in November. She thinks the title is L-Word B-Word, not to be confused with L-Word C-Word, which is why she’s hesitant to give it that title. What, like we’re not bright enough to tell the difference? 🙄

She has a new office with a fireplace and a shitload of wood at the ready. She has a new coffee maker. She has a stockpile of snacks and Halloween candy. And, most importantly, she has us. Seriously, what more could she possibly need?

Except you guys.

We sure as hell hope you’ve weathered her shit-storm of silence and are still there. You’d better be, or we’ll have to send the cop out to find you. Or, God forbid, Ginny.

The Subject is Subjects

Subjects, Lesbian Adventure Club: Book 17 will be officially released in the morning. However… I happen to know that it’s already in the LAC bookstore. It says on the site that it is expected to be in stock tomorrow. Despite that, you can purchase and download it now. Just don’t tell anyone I told you that, but feel free to brag that you read it before it was released. 🙂

It should be available for Kindle by week’s end and in paperback sometime next week. It takes longer for it to become available at the other outlets. You’ll have to hold your horses or get it while it’s hot in our bookstore.

LAC 17 Update

She finally finished LAC 17, and now it’ll move on to editing. It has a title, a cover, and a blurb. We are getting there! It should be ready by month’s end, but keep in mind she still has a couple of those major life events on the horizon. With those things, you never frickin’ know.

LAC 17 cover

Blurb: Kate and Claudia are sick and tired of LAC weekends sending them through an emotional wringer. As this month’s hostesses, they have vowed to avoid their typical wussy ways and do nothing less than mess with the crew. Can they pull it off, or is the deck stacked against them?

Another Swipe

Well, the cosmos has seen to dumping a shitload of “major life events” on our author. Nasty ones. Good ones. A couple big ones still pending. So despite the fact that she no longer owns a bikini, she has been riding the waves, and not a whole lot more. We’ve been behaving, and we simply welcome her back when she gets to the keyboard to help us on our way. It’s strange to be her solace and not the pain in her posterior. We’ll deal.

But, because she’s been feeling guilty about keeping you guys hanging, I decided to swipe another chapter. She’s here, kind of, and typing as fast as she can.

In the meantime…

Chapter 3

“‘Crazy Eights’?” Holly gasped. “What the heck does that mean?”

“Isn’t Crazy Eights a card game?”

“We’re going to spend the weekend playing cards?”

“Shush and listen,” Claudia yelled. “Kate, lay the rules on them.”

Feeling more confident than I had all day, I reminded, “The bags of bucks and beads are for purchasing meals and beverages. That’s the simple rule.” I cleared my throat and quickly recalled what was my job to cover. “In the spirit of Crazy Eights, you are required to speak in sentences of exactly eight words. If what you need to say requires less than eight words, you need to fill it in until it does. If what you need to say requires more than eight words, you must pause for eight seconds after the eighth word and then continue with another eight words, and so on.” I stopped to let that sink in, because I wasn’t sure there was even a way to explain it without it being confusing.

Apparently, they were brighter than I figured because no hands shot up with the bazillion questions I had anticipated.

I opened my mouth to proceed to the next rule, when Laura’s voice crackled out of Holly’s phone, “Give us an example, Sutter.”

Swiping Time Again

Well, she got out of Camp NanoWriMo with an extra 5,000 words beyond her goal. She focused mostly on Laura’s book, but the DWD did manage to wrangle some attention out of her. She’s now in Chapter 10, with quite a way to go yet, and I must tell you that it has been hard keeping in at the keyboard when it’s beautiful outside. I think I’d rather deal with her wanting to plant things than being crabby as hell with spring fever in the absence of spring. So, we’ll let her live a little but keep nagging as well—gently nagging.

In the meantime, here’s Chapter 2 of LAC 17. If you haven’t read Chapter 1 or need a refresher, read it first via the post below this one.

Chapter 2

Shortly after ten—hell, longly after ten, I finally heard the sound of a motor up the driveway. Let it be Claudia, I chanted as though a three-year-old moron. I did not want to frickin’ host this frickin’ thing by my frickin’ lonesome!

Ginny and Kris’ van finally came into view, and my heart sank, only to be quickly buoyed by the fact that Laura had said maybe they could swing by and get her. Please, let them have Claudia!

I rushed the van while trying hard not to look as though I was actually rushing the van. I wasn’t at all sure how I did. Probably not very well, for the side door flung open, and Holly stared at me.

“Did you get Claudia?” I asked as I tried to spy through windows made opaque by intense sunshine.

“No!” she shrieked, and I could not have imagined her being quite that upset over her best friend’s absence.

“Sorry, Dilly,” Maggie yelled. “She’s still at work.”

“And we’re late because Ginny got lost,” the redhead informed, just as the passenger door opened fully.

The psychologist jumped out. Shaking her head, she looked exasperated, but I knew she suppressed laughter.

I called to Ginny, “Claudia and I got lost the first time, too. You should have called me.”

“I got us here!” she replied. “We just took the scenic route. It’s beautiful out here.”

“It sure is,” Kris said.

Those in the back came barreling out, and Holly raced to me and threw her arms around me. She released a godawful sigh just as her head came to rest on my shoulder. Melodrama or what?

Spring Fever in Three Feet of Snow

Well, the author went from cabin fever to spring fever. She is miserable, wandering from cold window to cold window cursing ground hogs. We have little choice; we must do something to ensure our survival. So, Monday, April Fools Day, we’re sending her to camp. Yep, Camp NaNoWriMo. The chick needs to write, and maybe if we lock her in a virtual cabin with five other writers, she’ll get moving again. She’s not shooting for 50,000 this time. One complete sentence would be better than she has done lately.

She has a Laura book all ready to begin with its outlines and sketches and maps. She’s in Chapter 6 of LAC 17, and speaking of which… Here’s Chapter 1 of said book, just to prove it exists and to remind her that she needs to get a move on!

Chapter 1

Ba-doom. Ba-doom. Ba-doom. Ba-doom. Ba-doom. Fwip.

Ba-doom. Ba-doom. Ba-doom. Ba-doom. Ba-doom. Fwip.

Ba-doom. Ba-doom. Ba-doom. Ba-doom. Ba-doom. Fwip.

Rather calmly, I paced. Okay, calmly didn’t exactly go well with paced, but still.

LAC Book 16 Release Date

Lore Mongers survived editing, and as long as life cooperates, it should be released as an ebook in the LAC bookstore next Tuesday, January 22. The paperback should be ready by the end of the month or perhaps around the time when the lazy-ass groundhogs try to predict the future.

This one is the longest of the series, coming in with 9,000 more words than the longest reigning champ, L-Word C-Word. As a huge fan of you LAC fans, I advocate taking the day off of work, putting up your feet, and reading the book in one sitting. 🙂

Lore Mongers Update

Lore Mongers is complete and on the editor’s desk. I don’t know exactly how long that will take because it is, after all, the product of NaNoWriMo and the longest book in the series. It should be released yet this month. I will let you know when I have a specific date.

Claudia and I are up for next month, and we are thinking really, really hard.
